According to the International Center for Reiki training, there are over 4,000,000 people worldwide practicing reiki and growing.  Moreover, hospitals, medical centers and hospice programs everywhere from Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., Boston and globally in London, Cairo, Buenos Aires, Ontario and beyond have implemented reiki as part of standard patient care due to its effectiveness as a Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM).  In fact, a 2008 American Hospital Association survey indicated that 84% of hospitals indicated patient demand as the primary reason for implementing reiki as part of their Integrative Medicine services because of its non-invasive nature and clinical effectiveness.  Patients receive immediate and medically proven benefits from reiki such as lowering of the heart rate, blood pressure, pain reduction and relaxation.  Within the U.S., over 30,000 nurses are already practicing healing touch therapy and over 800 hospitals are offering reiki training to their staff.  Included in this list are highly distinguished and reputable hospitals such as:
